The basic structure is post-and-beam, with massive, hand peeled, eco-harvested, Engleman Spruce logs providing the roof support. The logs radiate out from the center/peak/skylight/concrete donut, which is an engineering marvel and gorgeous to behold. Everything is lovingly handcrafted using locally harvested (when feasable) materials such as rough-sawn lumber, sandstone, willows, and logs. Enjoy cool summers and warm winters inside, as the super-insulated strawbale walls wrap you in natural goodness. Tha passive solar design brings in the sun's warmth and slowly releases it throughout the winter nights. Free heat! There is also propane heated hot water in the floor if you ever want it. The house is nestled in on the edge of a small canyon that provides great solar exposure, live creek fontage, wonderful gardens, fabulous sunsets and peaceful seclusion. The grounds are nicely landscaped with a lovely water feature, flagtone walkways, shade arbor, patios, and drip irrigated plantings all around. We are entirely off-the-grid with photovoltaic solar power, battery storage, and propane generator backup. You just don't get any greener than this while still enjoying these kinds of comforts!
